The Raike Family Happenings.

It has been a little while since I have updated on what we have been doing. Nothing all too exciting. Our luck had been a little better until a couple of weeks ago when I ran to Kroger's for some A-1 sauce and some sour cream, ugh! Jason's parents came up and we had a cookout and had steaks. Well I was heading out of the parking lot and some lady ran into me. I'll say this I got hit by a sweet old lady in a minivan. Jason and I recently bought an extra car a 1999 Buick Century from my parents, who bought it from my Grampa. Anyways, this was the one she hit on the drivers side rear door, it did about $1500 worth of damage, but she was alright and no one was hurt. She did say though that she was 89 years old and had a stroke. She was just glad it was all right turns all the way home, poor lady. Other than that it is football season so that is the bulk of our life and the majority of our weekends. This past weekend we also ran in the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure in Toledo. We did it 2 years ago in Columbus and it is really uplifting to see everyone rally around for one cause. Last year we donated our money but didn't do the race. So this year we decided to have at it again (even though we are not in shape in the least bit!) Well my goal was to run the entire race without walking to run it under 35 minutes. Well, I am glad to say that I completed it in about 33 minutes and Jason got done in about 27 minutes. It was pretty neat though. I am a big supporter of breast cancer research and finding the cure because it has directly effected my family on more than one occassion. My Grandmother passed when my mom was only 16 and my Aunt Pam died in 1986 because of it. My Grandma Metz is a survivor. So early detection is key! It also helped me focus and keep running when I ran next to a bus full of Survivors for most of the race. That is the reason you do it and so if was the least that I could do. Hopefully with continued research and technological advances there will no longer need to be a Race for the Cure. Hope everyone is doing well! It is the best time of year as the temperature lowers and the leaves start to change colors, enjoy it!
